Many people who work at
the Corporate
Research Center are in the highest income brackets
in our community. These people are often very generous
with their resources and their time to support community
organizations that aide the less fortunate. However,
high-pressure work at the CRC doesn’t often provide
much time to understand the needs of the community
or learn about ways to contribute to those needs.
Chris Thompson, founder
of Recognition
Research, Inc. and a number of other successful,
high-tech firms had a vision of a program that would
support the community by:
• Identifying opportunities
• Coordinating activities and campaigns
• Recognizing companies for their contributions.
CRC management was interested
in identifying ways to measure the positive impact
of the CRC on the quality of life in the area. Management
also wanted companies to become engaged in the health
of the community and put down long-term roots.
The strategy was not to
invent new avenues of giving but to make existing programs
more visible and accessible to people in the park.
Some of these programs include the United Way and the
Community Foundation.
A group of interested
people came together in the fall of 2002 to discuss
how Chris’ vision could be implemented. This
group has since evolved into the committee that currently
oversees the Community Impact Program |
