The CRC Community Impact
Program, a volunteer group of business leaders dedicated
to the promotion
of philanthropic support for the local community, is
proud to announce record levels of support by the private
and public institutions in the Virginia
Tech Corporate Research Center Community during 2003.
We thank the companies and organizations in the research
center for contributing to the community:
| • |
Corporate contributions totaling $81,876 |
| • |
In-kind contributions totaling $66,991 |
| • |
1,501 volunteer hours |
Placing a conservative
dollar value on employee hours reported yields a
total of $185,000 that these companies
have contributed to our community in 2003. This figure
does not include contributions made directly by companies’ employees
through workplace campaigns. For example, the United
Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd campaign raised
$50,993 in the Corporate
Research Center. There is no doubt our total impact
was well over $200,000.
In 2003, the CRC companies
supported many organizations.
By
providing a structure for education and involvement,
CRC CIP connects local companies with the needs of
the local community. Our group intends to inspire leaders
in business to become leaders in the community. We
honor those companies that have exemplified leadership
in charitable giving and promotion of employee volunteerism
within their organization. Since our start in October,
2002, we have been awed at the exponential growth in
participation. We look forward to sharing this report
on the impact the companies at the CRC have on their
community annually.
